Resident DJs: start the weekend early with our resident DJs playing on rotation from Fridays and Saturdays Resident DJs on rotation playing an eclectic selection covering rock, indie, ska, funk, soul, reggae, 80s, hip hop and more from 10 till 3. Sundays Live Music: catch some of the finest local acoustic acts at our weekly Sunday Sessions night. GIG CALENDAR AUGUST WED 13 AUG: SANDINISTA LIVE: Graham Hall (on stage at 10:30) Graham brings on rootsy, delta blues a la Son House, Peter Green and Howlin Wolf. A massive talent with one of the best raw, soulful voices we've heard in a very long time, Lauren's vocals far belie her age. Together with the trio, expect southern soul, R'n'B and funk in the vein of Etta James and Janis Joplin.
LEEDS FESTIVAL WARM SPECIAL featuring Ben Pike, Vinyl Collide & more. LEEDS FESTIVAL WARM SPECIAL featuring The Claire Cameron Band, Holly Bretton & more. Followed by DJ Adrian. Project Talent UK finalist delivers soulful, acoustic tunes with a style akin to Lenny Kravitz and Ben Harper. Followed by Bank Holiday Bedlam with DJ Sven through till 3am!!
Music of merriment with tones of joy in celebration of the tonic, titillation and tuneful etiquette of life. A lighted hearted blend of country blues and folk with a splash of ragtime - think Clapton's version of San Francisco Bay Blues on his unplugged album and you're there or there abouts... Sheffield's Andrew delivers an acoustic sound that is at once raw and melodic, in the style of Billy Bragg and Pete Townshend. SEPTEMBER WED 03 SEP: LATE NIGHT COLOUR: Live Music hosted by Grain Division Featuring The Redwood Thinkers & Cliquant Blues duo Samuel Thornton & Matt Baxter lay down original material and covers ranging from down-and-out delta blues to funky R&B with sounds from DJ John and Tom Waits to Muddy Waters.
Solo guitarist with a classic bluesy rock sound that takes in latter day Weller, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Cream. Over on tour from her native Switzerland Bettina delivers a poppy acoustic sound in the style of Tori Amos or Sheryl Crow. WED 17 SEP: LEEDS ACOUSTIC SHOWCASE hosted by NoTitle Magazine Featuring Flowe, The Ally Jowett Band & Frankie Eisenhower (Stripped down Set). Graham brings on rootsy, delta blues a la Son House, Peter Green and Howlin Wolf. WED 24 SEP: SANDINISTA LIVE: Stella Frays (on stage at 10:30) Local group with a sound in keeping with the British take on the classic rock template, a kin to The Jam and The Who. Local acoustic artist plays original, bluesy yet emotive material rich in melody reminiscent of John Martyn and Iron & Wine. OCTOBER WED 01 OCT: LATE NIGHT COLOUR: Live Music hosted by Grain Division Featuring Wilful Missing, Pilla & Alex Quinn Gary plays folk rock acoustic along the lines of Counting Crows and Ray LaMontagne. WED 08 OCT: SANDINISTA LIVE: Paramedic Andy (on stage at 10:30) Local indie rock band pull together a raft of influences from the Beatles to Ocean Colur Scene via Lou Reed to bring a sound best compared to The Bluetones or Cast. SUN 12 OCT: SUNDAY SESSIONS: Brooke Taylor (on stage at 10:30) Acoustic Blues/Pop with earthy vocals sounding like the love child of Alanis Morrisette and Jewel. WED 15 OCT: LEEDS ACOUSTIC SHOWCASE hosted by NoTitle Magazine Featuring Unfinished Drawings, The Melodicas New Reed & more tba. SUN 19 OCT: SUNDAY SESSIONS: Stuburt (on stage at 10:30) Rootsy, soulful acoustic sounds drawing comparisons to Fink, The Beta Band and the acoustic side of the Foo Fighters.
